GARY FARRELLY. MEDICAL FACILITY (2016)
Gary Farrelly is an artist based in Brussels, Belgium. His practice includes drawing, collage, mail art and performance. The work ranges in subject matter from architecture and administration to personal inventory and autobiography. Autonomy and agency are recurring themes.
Farrelly studied fine art at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) in Dublin, graduating in 2006. After graduation he worked for extended periods in Paris and Dallas where he was artist in residence at Galerie W and The University of Texas, respectively. Exhibition highlights include Museum of Contemporary Textile Art (Tournai), Museum of Contemporary Art (Banja Luka), Parking Projects (Tehran), Central Trak (Dallas), Crawford Municipal Art Gallery (Cork) and Royal Institute of Architects (Dublin). Collaborative initiatives include a feature length film project with artist Oisin Byrne and the Office for Joint Administrative Intelligence, a research initiative with German artist Chris Dreier. He is currently pursuing post-graduate studies at the LUCA School of Arts in Brussels.
